The two queer actions making the news this week are huge rallies against the Mormon church for their ma$$ive support of anti gay marriage legislation, and bash back's storming of an anti gay, anti trans evangelical mega church in Michigan.
Gay marriage wasn't Bob's cup of tea, and far from what he thought should top the list of things to fight for. But the NY demo was nearly 10,000 strong, the largest homo demo in NYC since the Matthew Shephard Political Funeral ten years ago. Bob was discouraged then by the fact that it took the murder of a "pretty" white boy to enrage all the fags that didn't seem to notice the murders of multitudes of queers of color and sex workers. Still, he thought the momentum created by the demonstration and the community's outrage over the way police treated demonstrators could be used positively. He might've had that feeling again this week in NY even as he bristled at marriage being considered "right for gays." (See this hilarious reaction to the "God Loves Gay Marriage" banner.)
